News / Two cars off road
A CAR went off the road into a ditch in Gulberwick on Thursday morning as snow fell on Shetland, though only in certain places and not in the quantity forecast by the Met Office.
The incident happened at around 8am on a single-track road at the north entrance of Gulberwick, one of a few places in the isles that saw snow lying overnight. No injuries were reported.
There are also reports locally of a car leaving the road south of the Sandwater junction.
It was seen on Thursday morning in moorland flipped onto its roof.
The Met Office issued a warning on Wednesday for persistent heavy snowfall overnight, but that prediction failed to materialise for many areas across the isles.
Between Tuesday and Wednesday, at least five cars left the road in Shetland as icy conditions made driving conditions dangerous.
