News / Hjaltland to arrive late

SERCO NorthLink’s passenger ferry MV Hjaltland is expected to arrive in Lerwick mid-to-late morning on Sunday due to weather delays.

The ship is due to depart Aberdeen for Kirkwall and Lerwick on time at 5pm, but its arrival at both ports is expected to be delayed.

Meanwhile the southbound sailing of MV Hrossey will leave Lerwick one hour early on Saturday evening, at 6pm instead of 7pm, and is expected to arrive in Aberdeen on time at 7am on Sunday.

With little sign of a let-up in the fierce winter gales, the Hrossey’s northbound sailing on Sunday is under review with a “high possibility of cancellation”, the ferry operator said.

Freight vessel MV Hildasay arrived in Lerwick at 8am on Saturday and is not due to sail south again until 6pm on Monday, while MV Heliar’s northbound sailing from Aberdeen on Saturday has been cancelled due to the weather.
