News / Gales cause ferry disruption
SERCO NORTHLINK is once again warning that south-easterly gales and high seas will affect its services to and from the Scottish mainland this week.
The ferry operator said disruption was particularly likely from Wednesday until late Thursday.
MV Hrossey will sail from Aberdeen to Lerwick on Tuesday night, but its call at Kirkwall has been cancelled, while MV Hjaltland arrived in Lerwick at around noon and its arrival in Aberdeen on Wednesday may be delayed until 10am.
Freight vessel sailings in both directions on Tuesday have been cancelled.
Northbound and southbound sailings on Wednesday are both under review, with updates to be issued tomorrow morning.
The company said: “Continuing forecasts are indicating more severe weather over our operating area with south-easterly gales and high seas throughout the week.
“This is highly likely to adversely affect our services, particularly from Lerwick and Aberdeen from Wednesday through to late Thursday. We will continue to review forecasts and updates will follow.”
