News / Ferries back on route
NORTHLINK’S lifeline ferry service between Shetland and the Scottish mainland is slowly getting back to normal after two days of cancellations due to high winds.
Monday night’s boats will be the first since last Wednesday. There were no scheduled sailings on Hogmanay and New Year’s Day.
The ferry operator said the Hrossey, due to leave Lerwick for Kirkwall and Aberdeen at 5.30pm, was now likely to leave at 9pm with no Kirkwall call.
However, the sailing will only be confirmed later in the afternoon, as there is the potential for it to be cancelled at short notice.
Meanwhile, the Hjaltland, currently berthed at Aberdeen, is expected to depart at 10pm with an estimated time of arrival in Lerwick at midday on Tuesday.
Monday night’s cargo vessel between Lerwick and Aberdeen has been cancelled.
