News / NHS welcomes donations
NHS SHETLAND received nearly £5,000 in donations last week – as well as host of toys for kids.
The Gilbert Bain Hospital was given £2,536.90 on 9 December by the Shetland Gas Plant after it held an end of project health and safety raffle.
The money will be used to fund additional falls prevention mats and pressure relief equipment.
NHS Shetland Endowment Fund received £2,187.61 on 15 December after the health board held its inaugural Christmas charity masquerade ball at Mareel in Lerwick at the weekend.
The Gilbert Bain meanwhile has been inundated with donations of toys and games after a recent Facebook appeal.
NHS Shetland children’s nurse Gemma Jamieson asked locals to help restock the supply of toys in the hospital’s child health department.
The toys and games were made available to the children on Monday.
