News / NorthLink sailings disrupted

The Hrossey leaving Lerwick in stormy conditions last year.

SERCO NorthLink is altering its passenger ferry sailings on Wednesday due to a forecast of bad weather.

With wind speeds well in excess of 50mph expected in the second half of the day, the MV Hjaltland is to leave Lerwick five and a half hours earlier than scheduled, departing for Kirkwall at noon.

She is scheduled to arrive in Orkney at 9pm before sailing for Aberdeen at 10pm and arriving in the Granite City at 7am on Thursday.

The northbound sailing of MV Hrossey to Lerwick remains scheduled to leave Aberdeen at 7pm on Wednesday, but the sailing is under review and there will be a further update in the morning.

Freight sailings are also under review.
