Letters / Call bombardment

Is anybody else being bombarded daily with phone calls that look like on caller recognition that they are local calls? I get about six daily.

The calls supposedly come from 01806 or 01595 areas, but with an unknown number following the STD code.

If so, I have found if you don’t recognise the number and you press answer but don’t speak you are immediately cut off.

It appears to me that they have somehow managed to insert local code numbers to trick people into answering and the automated response is voice activated, pick up but wait for them to speak first.

I pay BT to filter out nuisance calls, but I fear this scam is getting around the BT safeguards. I have informed them.
