News / Scrap metal theft
POLICE in Shetland are making enquiries after a small amount of scrap metal was taken from Mair’s Quay, in Lerwick, sometime over the weekend.
Sergeant Martyn Brill said various types of metal worth about £120 had been removed.
He said it was likely that those responsible had used a vehicle to remove the items, described as “fairly heavy in weight”.
Sergeant Brill said: “Police are looking for any information witnesses may be able to provide with regards to any suspicious activity in the area.”
He added that Police Scotland wanted to remind people to ensure that all items kept outside were secure and, if possible, out of sight to deter any such opportunist thefts.
