News / No escape for Hamilton
A LERWICK man has been remanded in custody after breaching bail conditions less than a week after they were imposed.
Nineteen year old Lee Hamilton, of 89 St Olaf St, appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
The court heard that Hamilton had breached bail conditions set on 5 August by not answering his door to police officers on 10 August.
Bail had been granted after Hamilton pled guilty to brandishing a length of wood, breaching the peace and attempting to pervert the course of justice by running away from officers on Lerwick’s Market Street on 18 July.
The court previously heard that the young man fled from the police after appearing to threaten a group of people with a piece of wood.
However his escape landed him in Lerwick police station yard where he got stuck and needed assistance from the officers he was running away from.
Hamilton’s release from custody on 5 August was his third separate bail order.
Defence agent Tommy Allan said during the latest hearing that Hamilton had been staying with his girlfriend elsewhere in Lerwick since the charge was registered and had now evicted from the St Olaf St address.
Honorary sheriff Eric Peterson deferred sentence until 2 September and refused to grant bail.
