News / Man held on rape charge

A MAN with an address in Shetland has been remanded in custody after being charged with a number of serious sexual offences including rape and having or attempting to have sex with someone under the age 16.

Zai Joe-Lee Vessey, aged 22, made no plea or declaration when he appeared in private from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Friday.

Vessey was committed for further examination and will reappear in court “in due course”.
