Shetland's strongest man Colin Arthur in action.

ONE OF Shetland’s strongest man Colin Arthur is competing against world class weightlifters in the final of this year’s Scotland strongman competition being held in Motherwell this weekend.

Arthur will compete against 16 other athletes, including Scotland’s former strongest man Steve Cherrie and current champion Luke Stoltman.

He will face six “gruelling events”, including a maximum weight deadlift and the famous “Atlas stones”.

A spokesman for the Shetland weightlifting club said this year’s final looks set to be the closest in years with a very high standard of competitors.
