Letters / Research the facts
In the course of your article Glasgow flights almost as pricey as Thailand (SN, 10/06/15) you point out that the three island health boards spent over £7.1 million on patient and staff flights with Loganair in 2014/15.
You then go on to say “That figure is exacerbated by the SNP Government’s decision to exclude organisations’ travel from the… (ADS).”
May I point out to you that when ADS was introduced by the then Labour/LibDem Scottish Executive in 2006, the then transport minister, one Tavish Scott no less, specifically and explicitly excluded ALL National Health Service-funded trips from the discount scheme.
The exclusion of NHS trips therefore dates from the very start of the scheme and was not at the instigation of the SNP Government.
I have already pointed out this error on your part before, see Inconvenient truth (SN, 18/07/12).
I do hope that in future you research the facts before glibly parroting Labour and LibDem propaganda statements, not least given the conduct of Mr Carmichael during the recent election campaign.
