News / Airlifted from Eshaness
A WOMAN had to be airlifted to hospital on Saturday afternoon after falling near the Eshaness lighthouse in Shetland’s north mainland.
Shetland Coastguard was asked to help the ambulance service and its rescue helicopter flew north to pick up the woman.
It arrived in Eshaness at around 4pm and transferred the injured woman to the Clickimin landing pad shortly afterwards. She was then taken to the Gilbert Bain Hospital for treatment.
Climbers had been seen on the cliffs below the lighthouse.
