Letters / Power at any cost

Let’s imagine for minute what would have happened had the memo been believed?

Nicola Sturgeon’s credibility would have been in tatters, the SNP’s credibility would have been ruined, and all that they stood for would have been questioned, leading to a nationwide distrust of ANY further claims by the party.

So, this isn’t a silly wee “These things happen” matter, this was a blatant attempt of undermining the entire SNP’s and first minister’s credibility, along with its prospective candidates in the upcoming general election.

Any chance of them being seen as an honest political party that stood by its convictions would have been shattered.

Had the memo been believed, how many of the 56 SNP MPs would have lost the distrust of the voter and NOT been elected?

Let’s keep this into perspective; this was a “Game Changer”, the impact of this “Lie” would have been nothing short of devastating…

Thank heavens it was proved to be untrue as quickly as it was? Thank goodness Carmichael’s botched attempt backfired spectacularly.

The Lib/Dems have now been shown up to what they stand for, “Power at ANY cost”. They sold their soul for the proverbial ministerial Mondeo and jumped into bed with the Tories, and now Carmichael has sold whatever little respect remained by NOT standing down, denying the voters the right to make their own minds up?

I know there are many who are desperately scuttling around trying to point the finger at the SNP in an attempt to take the heat and focus off Carmichael and the Lib Dems, and in some way I hope those people, along with Tavish get their wish, and Carmichael manages to retain his seat,

Why?…simply, because that way whatever he says, in the future, whatever he does, whenever he’s seen, he’ll ALWAYS be a reminder of where his party and its priorities TRULY lie.
