AN UNEMPLOYED plater from County Durham was fined £200 at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Thursday after pleading guilty to headbutting a bouncer at a local nightclub.
The court heard that 26 year old Stewart John Grazier, of 13 Charlotte Street, South Moor, Stanley, assaulted the bouncer at Posers Nightclub, on Lerwick’s Commercial Street, on 30 November.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said Grazier carried out the attack while being escorted off the premises from which he had previously been banned.
But defence agent Tommy Allan said his client had struggled with door staff when they would not let him enter the premises, and he had not been banned.
Honorary sheriff Sandy Cluness restricted the fine to £200 after hearing Grazier had been in custody since handing himself in to the police as he could not afford the trip to Shetland to attend court.
