Letters / The calibre of Carmichael
Alistair Carmichael’s little leaflet arrived through the post the other day full of the wonders the Liberal Democrats would be able to perform if we vote for them.
Well I read it carefully, but strangely found not a mention of his support for the now approved Viking Wind Farm.
When I met with him in August 2010 pointing out my concerns regarding the project and how he intended to represent me, Mr Carmichael admitted he ‘knew nothing’ about health issues, but would only support the project if ‘the figures added up’.
Fast forward to September 2013: “Northern Isles MP Alistair Carmichael expressed his delight at his fellow Liberal Democrat’s ( Ed Davey) decision to back island wind farms pointing out he had lobbied hard behind the scenes for this to happen.”
In November last year I wrote to Mr Carmichael how, in view of the above, he intends to represent all his constituents who will be adversely affected both financially and physically.
To date I have had neither an acknowledgement nor the courtesy of a reply to my letter.
This is the calibre of the man.
