News / Sixth march of the undead

NEXT weekend sees the sixth outing for Shetland’s annual Zombiefest – so keep your eyes peeled for undead rock stars as festivities commence with a Zombiewalk around Lerwick town centre.

The event will be held on Saturday 25 April and volunteers will be providing help with makeup from 9am. For those looking for inspiration, this year’s theme is “Rock & Roll Dead”, and zombies wishing to participate should assemble at 2pm in the upper car park at Bolts.

From there the zombies will shamble down the road as part of a mindless horde, the organisers say. Participants are encouraged to pull out all the stops with photos of the event, filming of the walk and a prize-giving for best costume.

The walk will finish up with a zombie film shoot for local band Semperfi’s new music video in St Magnus Street – so, in organiser Alex Garrick-Wright’s words, “put on your best gore!”

He added that while Zombiefest was not restricted to adults, “we would advise that small children can sometimes be nervous around people in zombie costumes; you know your child best! If you think your children will enjoy having a look then come along!”
