News / Althing hustings
THREE of the five parliamentary candidates contesting the Orkney and Shetland seat in next month’s general election are going head to head in a hustings meeting hosted by the Althing debating society this Saturday.
Alistair Carmichael (Liberal Democrats), Gerry McGarvey (Labour) and Danus Skene (SNP) have all confirmed their participation.
The other two candidates, Donald Cameron for the Conservatives and UKIP man Robert Smith, are unlikely to be present.
The hustings will be held in the Tingwall Hall starting at 7.30pm.
There will be a further chance to question the candidates on 28 April when BBC Radio Shetland hosts its hustings in the Shetland Museum and Archives.
