Letters / Earth Hour thank you
I would like to say a big thank you to your readers for helping to make WWF’s Earth Hour event such an incredible success this year.
At the end of March thousands of Scots joined with hundreds of millions of people in a record 172 countries and territories across the world in going dark for an hour to show they want action on climate change.
Thanks to the support of your readers, the Scottish Government, local authorities, and the players of People’s Postcode Lottery more than one hundred towns and cities organised Earth Hour activities. A record 1,000 schools also participated, along with many the nation’s most iconic landmarks.
Now that Earth Hour is over we would like to encourage everyone to think about ways they can go beyond the Hour, whether at home or in their place of work.
Those who supported Earth Hour know that the need to take action on climate change extends throughout the year. However, they also know that if everyone acts together then we will be able to ensure that our brilliant planet is protected.
Thanks again for your support.
