News / MSYPs communicate well
SHETLAND’S two youth parliamentarians have been jointly awarded communicator of the year at a ceremony to celebrate the achievements of Scotland’s youth parliament.
Catherine Hannah and Kaylee Mouat won the award on Friday night, and thanked local politicians and SIC youth services workers for their support.
On Monday, Mouat was elected to serve as one of Shetland’s MYSPs for a further two years. She will be joined in the youth parliament by Kelvin Anderson.
They said: “We are delighted to have won this award tonight to recognise the work we have carried out in the local community.
“Our thanks goes to [Shetland MSP] Tavish Scott, [SIC convener] Malcolm Bell, Shetland Islands Council youth services, our support worker Martin Summers and our wonderful local media for their support. Without them we would not be able to spread the messages and campaigns of the Scottish Youth Parliament throughout the isles.”
