Letters / MP’s intervention
Alistair Carmichael claims he is “merely doing his job” with his intervention regarding Danus Skene standing against him in the general election for the SNP and the role he has stood down from as chairman of Shetland Arts.
As a voter in Mr Carmichael’s constituency I am more concerned with his own two jobs, that of Secretary of State for Scotland, £79,000 PA, as my MP, £66,000 PA and his expenses during 2013-2014 of £210,000.
And before you suggest the bulk of this is due to travel costs, less than 25 per cent was.
Coupled with his refusal to answer many emails from his constituents recently, perhaps devoting some time to Orkney and Shetland requires he gives up the Scottish Secretary’s post bestowed on him by close friend and political ally David Cameron?
