News / Hoofields charges

A YOUNG Bressay man has been charged with a string of offences that involved him stripping off, smashing a window, hitting a woman and forcing his way into her home after appearing from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Ryan Patterson, aged 25, of 7 Upper Glebe, faces three separate charges after being arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning.

He is charged with stealing a set of keys and a hammer from a house in Lerwick’s Hoofields, removing his clothing, shouting, screaming and striking a woman on the head to her injury, behaving aggressively and brandishing a hammer, smashing a window and forcing entry into the same house, as well as resisting arrest by running away from the police and struggling violently with them.

Sheriff Philip Mann continued the case without plea and released Patterson on bail.
