News / Airport growth
SUMBURGH Airport has cemented its status as Scotland’s fastest growing airport, with an 18 per cent year-on-year rise in passenger numbers. In 2014 there were 319,597 passengers – a substantial rise on the 270,349 in 2013. The increase is largely attributed to a spike in the number of oil and gas workers passing through the terminal, which will shortly undergo redevelopment.
