News / Increase in NHS funding
NHS SHETLAND is to receive an addition £1.1 million in 2015/16 to fund local health services.
This brings the Shetland health board’s general allocation to £40.7 million, an increase on 2.8 per cent on last year’s funding.
In addition, the health board will get a further £100,000 to tackle delays in discharging patients from hospital.
Health secretary Shona Robison said: “We’re clear that all patients in Shetland should be treated as quickly and as effectively as possible, with the right care, in the right place, at the right time. With this increase in funding, health boards are being given more support to achieve this.
“Tackling delayed discharge is an absolute key priority for this government and the £100,000 for NHS Shetland in 2015-16 is crucial to this effort.”
