Letters / Call me cynical
Call me cynical, but it has been noticeable that since the “Tree hugging society” has been getting cheaper petrol and heating fuel, there has been a noticeable hush settle on complaints about the greenhouse effect and its costs to the planet.
Surely the cost of filling up their micro cars could not have influenced their moral cause to educate us sad mortals?
Not to mention the cost the fuel savings are having on people in the industry. Still, if you don’t work in the industry you can still throw stones, I guess.
I am no “tree hugger” but I do think that if we are killing the planet when fuel is expensive and being used less, how can it get any better when fuel is cheaper?
It seems to me that on Shetland roads during the morning rush into the town, the amount of one person per car traffic seems to have grown recently.
It also seems to fit with the increase of smaller “Greener cars” going to their desks.
I ask you, is the fall in fuel prices saving your planet?
