News / Theft and car charges
A TWENTY three year old man has appeared in court charged with stealing a mobile phone, causing a disturbance and taking a car without the owner’s permission.
James Tanti, of Brakefield Crescent, Haroldswick, had his case continued without plea until Wednesday 12 November when he appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday.
It is alleged that Tanti took the phone from an address at Lindagarth in Uyeasound on Friday, and behaved in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting, swearing and repeatedly banging on doors and windows at the same address.
He is also charged with taking the car from Lindagarth without lawful authority and driving it at East Road, Uyeasound, without any insurance.
