News / Frankie’s wins ‘best eatery’
FRANKIE’S Fish & Chips has been named as the best eatery in the Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Awards.
The judges said a consistently high quality of produce and the presence of four Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) accredited species of fish and shellfish on its menus meant the Brae chippy was operating at a very high level.
“We’re very flattered to have been chosen by the judges as the best eatery in the region,” said Frankie’s manager John Gold.
The other competitors for the award were the Bandstand Bar & Restaurant in Nairn, Eilean Dubh Restaurant in Fortrose, The Bothy in Burghead and the Pier Café in Lairg.
The winner was announced at a dinner in the Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness, hosted by presenter and comedian Fred MacAulay, on Friday night.
“Fred MacAulay joked that we had won more awards than the audience had had fish suppers, and we’ll take that as a compliment,” said Mr Gold.
Frankie’s was highly commended in the same category at last year’s awards ceremony.
