News / Man denies racism charge
A THIRTY nine year old man has been bailed after denying calling another man a “n***** in the centre of Lerwick on Tuesday.
Keith Feeney, of Mansefield Court, Kelso, pleaded not guilty to a charge of behaving in a racially aggravated manner with the intention of causing alarm and distress on the town’s Commercial Street.
He appeared from custody in the dock at Lerwick Sheriff Court alongside 33 year old Kori Garden, of Thorngrove Avenue, Aberdeen.
Garden was also bailed after denying a charge alleging that he struck a man on the head to his injury on Lerwick’s Commercial Road on Tuesday.
Sheriff Arnold Duncan granted both bail with a special condition stipulating that they must not enter Shetland other than to attend court appearances.
A trial date has been set for 5 February 2015.
