News / Fire at Greenhead
WORKERS had to be evacuated from the Greenhead Base in the north of Lerwick after two cylinders went on fire on Wednesday morning.
The fire brigade was called out shortly before 11am and discovered that an acetylene cylinder and an oxygen cylinder were on fire.
A fire service spokeswoman said two fire engines from Lerwick and one from Sandwick attended and the flames were extinguished by around midday.
Police also attended the incident, along with an ambulance as a precaution, and a cordon was put in place.
The spokeswoman added that fire service personnel remained at the scene cooling the cylinders down.
