NORTHLINK’s ferry Hrossey has now left Lerwick, two hours earlier than scheduled, and heading into a force nine southeasterly gale.
The passenger ferry will not call at Kirkwall but is sailing straight to Aberdeen where she is currently expected to arrive at 5am on Tuesday.
The northbound sailing of the Hjaltland has been cancelled.
On Tuesday, the Hrossey will again not call at Orkney but sail directly to Lerwick leaving Aberdeen at 5pm. NorthLink said departure of this sailing could be delayed.
There will be no southbound service on Tuesday as a consequence of Monday’s cancellation of the Hjaltland.
Meanwhile the inter island service to Yell has been reduced to a one single service only.
And a flood warning has been issued for the whole of Shetland by SEPA. The agency said that flooding was likely in low lying areas due to the high winds in combination with high astronomical tides on Monday and Tuesday.
