News / Apprentice scoops award
A TRAINEE welder from Ocean Kinetics won young apprentice of the year at the annual Energy North awards in Inverness last week.
Scot Jeromson won the trade body award thanks to his performance at Nigg’s skills academy in Ross-shire, where he is undertaking a fast-tracked modern apprenticeship in fabrication and welding.
In his first 16 weeks of training he passed ten welding codings, working with different processes and materials in each code.
Ocean Kinetics described Jeromson’s perfrormance as a “remarkable achievement in this field”, and one which had encouraged his tutors to nominate him for the award.
Jeromson travelled to Inverness last week and was presented with his award by Sylvia Buchan from the UK government’s Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC).
Ocena Kinetics said it was proud of his achievement and delighted with the quality of training at Nigg’s skills academy.
