News / Folk duo’s EP launch
AN AUDIENCE of 200 turned out at Mareel to witness the launch of a Shetland-enhanced new EP from folk duo Kris Drever and Eamonn Coyne on Tuesday night.
Performing in the same spot where the five-track , Drever – who moved to Quarff late last year – and Coyne were joined by eight of the isles’ finest musicians and singers for the latter part of the show.
Among them was Maurice Henderson, who arrived home just hours before the concert after a short trip to Alaska with Fiddlers’ Bid.
The night opened with a fine set from Freda Leask, Drever’s next door neighbour, who also sings backing vocals on the EP’s two songs, performing with Trevor Smith.
