News / Clean tweets
SHETLAND is second only to Orkney for sending the cleanest tweets in the UK, according to research by the Centre for Advanced Spatial Studies, at London’s University College.
Researchers monitored all 1.3 million geo-located tweets sent from UK smartphones in the week of 28 August and 4 September.
Redcar in North Yorkshire came out top of the tweets for profanity, while Orkney came bottom followed closely by Shetland, the islands being the only part of the country scoring less than one per cent of tweets containing swear words.
BBC Radio 4 will broadcast the research in a programme called Future Proofing at 8pm on Wednesday.
