A WOMAN in her early 20s was involved in a single vehicle road accident in the early hours of Monday morning.

The car she was driving was left hanging off an embankment following the accident on the A970 near Scalloway, which police and fire services were called out to at around 3.10am.

The woman was taken to the Gilbert Bain Hospital but suffered no injuries and was released.

It is understood that the woman is to be reported to the procurator fiscal.
