AN AIRLINE has launched an internal investigation after pilots on a Shetland to Aberdeen flight had to wear oxygen masks as a precaution.
Eastern Airways confirmed that due to an unusual odour on board of Monday’s flight the pilots used the masks as a precaution.
The airline is chartered by the oil industry to fly workers between Aberdeen and Scatsta airport, in Shetland.
A spokeswoman for the company said: “During yesterday afternoon’s charter flight from Scatsta to Aberdeen, the operating flight crew reported an unusual odour in the cockpit.
“The Aberdeen bound aircraft with 38 passengers and three crew onboard landed safely at 4.46pm yesterday.
“On arrival, the aircraft taxied to the parking stand at the terminal and passengers disembarked as normal via the aircraft steps.”
