Letters / The health issue
I see that the long dormant political wing of Viking Energy has suddenly sprung into life with recent letters and a large advert in the Shetland Times (8 August) trumpeting “clean sustainable electricity”.
The fact that China has a major pollution problem caused by the mining of rare minerals used in turbine manufacture makes a lie of the “green” image promoted by the wind farm industry.
The Viking Energy project will require 4,600 tons of rebar, 50,000 cubic metres of concrete, and this does not even include the road construction and quarries.
All the other proposed wind farm sites will require the same construction methods.
This does not strike me as environmentally friendly or remotely “green”.
I would like to ask why the Supporters Group never mention the health effects on the people forced to live in the wind farm.
Dr Sarah Taylor’s report is widely available as is the mounting evidence from around the world on the detrimental health issues.
Since the Supporters Group appear to be so voluble on every other aspect of the Viking Energy project perhaps Bunyan and Co. could now reply specifically on the health issue.
