Letters / Elected dictatorship
Now that the legal evils have condemned rural Shetland to an industrial landscape (Court rules in Viking Energy’s favour; SN, 09/07/14), I fear the worst.
It makes me so angry that the totally inept and unrepresentative SIC could have railroaded the vast majority of local folk who oppose this by simply not asking the Shetland community to vote on it right at the beginning.
To postulate this travesty on a remote and wonderful environment is nothing short of a crime and to say it’s jointly an SSE and community owned project is more evidence of an elected dictatorship – not a democracy!
