News / Man bailed

A TWENTY four year old man has been released on bail after appearing at Lerwick Sheriff Court charged with assaulting his partner by grabbing and pushing her.

Sean Barker, whose bail address was given as Leaside, Firth, made no plea when he appeared in court on Tuesday.

He has also been charged with behaving in a manner likely to cause fear or alarm by shouting, swearing, making threats, repeatedly banging on a car which his partner had locked herself and his three young children in, and driving at excessive speed.

The alleged offences are said to have taken place on Sunday at Levenwick Beach, on the A970 road between Levenwick and Lerwick and at an address in the town’s Breiwick Road.

Barker was granted bail by honorary sheriff Willie Shannon with special conditions that he is not to approach or contact the complainer or to enter the Breiwick Road address in question. He will appear in court again on 24 July.
