News / Flight diverts to Inverness airport
AN INVESTIGATION is being carried out after a Loganair flight from Aberdeen to Sumburgh carrying 33 passengers and four crew was diverted to Inverness on Thursday afternoon.
Loganair said that the pilot of Flight BE6774 declared an emergency as a precaution after a warning light showed ice on the wing.
A spokesman said the problem had been “a technical issue with the aircraft’s de-icing system”.
The warning came 30 minutes after the plane left Aberdeen at 2.15pm, and it landed safely just after 3.30pm in Inverness.
The spokesman said: “Having declared an emergency the aircraft was given clearance for landing and in line with standard procedure, airfield operations at the airport mobilised the emergency services.
“A stand-by aircraft and crew are in the process of being dispatched from Glasgow to take the passengers on to their original destination.
“Our engineering team will conduct a full inspection of the aircraft.”
