News / Man exposed himself
SENTENCE on a man from Voe who exposed himself in a sexual manner to the local postwoman on two occasions has been deferred for reports.
Rory Dalziel, of Dalesview, Dale, was told that he would also be put on the sex offenders’ register.
The 29 year old appeared before Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday admitting intentionally exposing his genitals to the female postie on 10 and 11 December last year.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said the Royal Mail employee was left “extremely distressed” from the incident and reported it to her manager who in turn alerted the police.
Dalziel was detained on 16 December and interviewed at length.
The fiscal said Dalziel had been standing completed naked in a full-length window at the front of the house where the postie had to pass when delivering the mail.
He said that the woman had been delivering the mail in the area for many years and had previously felt uncomfortable when on some occasions Dalziel had opened the door in his underwear to receive the mail.
Defence solicitor Tommy Allan said he would speak in mitigation for his client once the criminal justice report has been compiled, adding that Dalziel was tendering his “sincere and heartfelt apologies”
Sheriff Philip Mann adjourned the case until 15 May.
