News / Man refused bail

A TWENTY six year old man has been remanded in custody for allegedly intending to steal from an address in Yell.

Jason Pottinger, of Meadowbank Road, Burravoe, made no plea or declaration when he appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

He is charged with being found at another address in Burravoe on Sunday so that it “may be reasonably inferred” that he intended to commit theft.

Pottinger’s case was continued without plea and he was denied bail. His next court appearance will be on 16 April.

Police said the arrest and appearance was the “result of inquiries into a number of thefts recently reported in Yell”.

A spokesman said inquiries were ongoing and asked anyone with information to contact police by dialling 101 or phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
