News / GUAT goes ahead
BBC Radio Shetland’s popular requests programme Give us A Tune almost went un-aired on Friday evening due to technical problems.
Issues with the transmitter on Bressay meant that the Lerwick station was unable to broadcast direct to the islands.
As a result the news and current affairs show Good Evening Shetland was sent out via the Orkney station using an ISDN link.
However at 5.30pm with half an hour to spare the connection was fixed and the later programme was able to be transmitted with guest presenters Ali Flaws and Gordon Mitchell.
Bressay experienced a seven hour power cut from 4.45am to 11.45am on Friday due to a lightning strike, but it is not known if this was the cause of the breakdown.
