Letters / Funny money
Now that the Bank of England making public its encouragement to retain the pound sterling in Scotland, the question is why England has for years and years treated Scottish notes as foreign.
The government and even the London mayor knows we are all the one currency – pound sterling clearly written on all Bank of England/Scottish notes, which we in Scotland use equally along with sterling coins.
Tourists are not properly informed before coming into Britain and it is most annoying when working in a shop to be asked to exchange or give change in English notes because it suits taxi drivers or bus drivers in England when all I am doing is giving pound for pound value…or is the silly reason being the queen’s face must be shown.
We are one country – the United Kingdom, with one currency of the pound sterling, even if Walt Disney’s face is shown.
Should we sadly become an independent Scotland then the situation of any different currency will make no difference as England thinks we are already a kind of funny money.
