Friday night’s north and southbound ferry sailings between Aberdeen and Lerwick have been cancelled due to the strength of the south easterly gales, Serco NorthLink have confirmed.

Saturday’s southbound sailing from Lerwick is now cancelled while the northbound journey is under review, as forecasters predict worsening conditions over the weekend with sleet and snow on higher ground.

Friday’s north bound sailing of the freight vessel Hildasay is also under review, as are all Pentland Firth crossings from 4.30pm on Saturday through Sunday.
