MARINE scientists from Aberdeen are offering a small cash reward for the return of two satellite trackers they have lost on Shetland’s west side.
Three ‘drifters’ being used for measure currents in the Fair Isle gap were blown off course by the gales over the festive period.
Physical oceanographer Bee Berx from Marine Scotland’s Aberdeen laboratory said one that washed up near Walls has already been recovered.
However two other devices are still sending out signals that reveal they are lying on hard to access beaches in the Sandsound area.
The laboratory is offering a £20 reward for the return of the beacons, which are attached to buoys and are contained in small Tupperware boxes with electronics inside them.
