News / Jazzy Christmas dinner

Bill Wells and the National Jazz Trio.

THIS YEAR’s Christmas dinner, courtesy of Shetland Jazz Club, will be held at Mareel on Saturday, 14 December.

Bill Wells and the National Jazz Trio of Scotland are the main act.

The venue’s main auditorium will be laid out carbaret style with the three course meal, prepared by James Martin of the Peerie Shop Café, available from a buffet.

Secretary of SJC, Jeff Merrifield, promised a very different sort of Christmas dinner.

“Led by the wayward genius Wells (a big Santa of a man) on piano, keyboards and other electronics, the ‘trio’ is completed by vocalists Kate Sugden, Gerard Black and Aby Vulliamy, who also plays excellent viola.

“As well as Christmas carols like you’ve never heard them before, there will be late night dancing to Norman Willmore and a group of Funky Friends,” he said.

Tickets are £25, all inclusive, and available from www.shetlandboxoffice.org or at 01595 745 555.
