Letters / Don’t be bamboozled

As an ex pupil of Mid Yell junior secondary school (Mk 1) in the 1960s I am appalled at the latest proposals being put forward by Ms Budge and her pet consultant.

The junior secondary model I benefited from was introduced as a bold and successful attempt to retain the young population of the islands by offering just the right mix of academic and vocational education.

I hope the SIC councillors have mair wit than to be bamboozled by the psychobabble being excreted by Ms Budge & co and flush their plans down the toilet of history.

If they don’t, then education and progress in the North Isles will be set back 60 years, and the essential bond with young folk that communities need in order to be sustainable will be broken.

I hope there is a good turn-out for the meeting in Yell on Monday and I wish them every success in their campaign against the latest bout of SIC folly.
