Letters / Sweeteners

The gentleman’s comments (Defending the Nation; SN 22/10/13) on the SNP independence campaign are quite correct.

The business world is of ultimate importance and contracts within the UK are of international interests.

Scotland is a great country loved by all, but in a friendly way and not as Mr Salmond would have believe us.

What is proposed is a serious economic split that could prove very costly to us all.  The idea of being independent is the only consideration of SNP supporters.

The legal implications of not being a British subject are quite scary and a little bit of nationalist brainwashing.

The temporary sweetener was obvious but not believable when Shetland officials were offered their own little local control. Mr Salmond is well aware of the oil riches Shetland has.

It could all change after the referendum and councillors should remember Ian Clark’s warning of parliament controlling funds.

They now want 16 and 17 year olds voting, but that is another sweetener that is aimed at a vulnerable age group that is not wholly interested in politics or understands its meaning for the country (how many of us did at that age).

Everyone has their own opinion, but to turn our back on the UK, and have Scottish people divided amongst themselves is not the way forward.
