Letters / Tactic designed to intimidate
I’m not sure who writes the titles for these letters, but to have my name in bold print seems like a tactic designed to intimidate and stifle any debate or criticism. (In response to Jack Barclay; SN, 17/10/13)
This only works if the target gives a hoot (word chosen carefully).
To assert that the “membership approaching 900” and “contributed generously” is perhaps overstating the case.
Given that your costs are capped at £5,000 this works out at £5.56 each member. Hardly in need of a rich benefactor!
This in fact proves the points raised in my letter.
SuS, drop the personal attacks and talk straight, don’t try and dress the arguments with overstated rhetoric.
Laughton (Little say and no benefit; SN, 17/10/13), I agree with your sentiments entirely, common sense must surely prevail.
Jack Barclay,
Unst
