News / Reported for synthetic substances supply

TWO WOMEN, aged 20 and 47, have been reported to the procurator fiscal in Shetland in connection with possessing illegal drugs and the supply of synthetic substances.

Police said the charges were the result of an ongoing investigation and were not connected to raids made in the isles in late September as part of a highlands and islands wide crackdown on the illegal drugs trade.

On Thursday, police in Inverness said that drugs worth more than £20,000 and £5,500 in cash had been recovered from across the area during ‘Operation Ram’, between 20 and 29 September.

A total of 26 search warrants were executed and 19 people are to be reported to the procurator fiscal.

A spokeswoman said that some of these raids had taken place in Shetland but she said she was unable to release any further detail for operational reasons.

Anyone with information relating to the supply or possession of illegal drugs, new psychoactive substances or any other synthetic substances is urged to report this to Lerwick police station on 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
